I was actually surprised to hear Bader was ranked at 4 coming into this. Anthony Johnson used to make crazy weight cuts just for the sake of being big for his division. He used to make a lot of really dumb mistakes as well. This man that’s put in years of hard work who is no longer worried about depleting himself to make weight and has worked the kinks out of his own mind is SCARY. I’ll be surprised if he isn’t a champ soon. I mean the first few times I saw him fight I thought it was an eventuality just because he was so huge for his weight class. But I saw him seem to give up several times (which was most likely a result of the HUGE weight cuts he was making, probably some of the craziest in UFC history) and just make what looked like dumb mistakes. Some times when you see a fighter do something that looks dumb to you, you have no idea how tired they are. Sometimes their body just shuts down. Anthony looks super strong at LHW. Notice Bader didn’t even dare stand with him? Johnson took his lumps, stayed in it and kept learning. I’ve seen him lose but never really take huge damage or anything. He usually either won really fast or kinda gassed out or quit on himself mentally. I think he’s past that. He’s spent years getting to this point. He’s ready.
